fferlys - sometimes i want to murder time
(www)
Acoustic EP featuring a selection of previously released tracks and some new compositions.
Each song was recorded live on the floor: just Robert and his acoustic guitar. Two songs (cast away, zina & zara) receive some light accompaniment in the form of slide guitar dubbed after the primary tracking was complete.
Titled after a line from Robin Williamson’s October Song, the album ties together songs from several of Fairley’s releases on the theme of time and its inherent elusive manner. We take our existence from time, and it will one day consume each of us. Does a flower’s beauty also come from the fact that they are not ever-blooming? Memento mori.
”it turned out a little more rough than I intended when I started, but in an age where AI can imitate music on a grid with little issue, I like the compromise. there’s little mystery here in the production: it is me and my guitar in one go. on a couple of songs I dubbed some slide guitar with a little delay effect as well. there’s nothing more to it than that. it’s a bit bare, and I’m going to keep going with that for a little while.” – Robert
